We Live to Glorify God in All We Do

St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Gbaja, Lagos, emerges from the sandy expanse of Surulere's development, a testament to the faith and resilience of its parishioners who, displaced from Lagos Island, sought solace in their newfound homes. Blessed by Archbishop Leo Hale Taylor in 1961, its humble beginnings in a rented classroom at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School blossomed into a vibrant community, culminating in the joyous dedication of its own church. From the dedication by Archbishop Taylor to the nurturing care of the Dominican Fathers, St. Anthony's thrived, buoyed by the dedication of its priests and the unwavering support of its congregation. Through the years, amidst changes in leadership and the challenges of growth, the spirit of St. Anthony's persevered, exemplified by its expansion to establish Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Aguda.-

What we do

Keeping Our Church Running Smoothly

Worship

As a believer in Christ, worship is more than just a ritual or religious duty; it’s a profound expression of reverence, love, and gratitude towards God

Prayer

Prayer is communing with the father and it is important that we start and finish with it just as Jesus Christ our Lord did while He walked the earth.

Faith

“To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary. To one without faith, no explanation is possible” – Thomas Aquinas
